Key words: green economy, sustainable development, decarbonization, renewable energy sources, environmental policy, Central Asia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan.
Annotation. The article presents a comparative analysis of green economy development in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan in the context of the global transition to sustainable development. The study aims to identify institutional, structural, and investment differences in the implementation of environmental policies in the two countries. The methodological framework includes comparative institutional analysis, assessment of macroeconomic indicators, and analysis of national sustainable development strategies. The results indicate that Kazakhstan demonstrates a higher level of institutionalization of green transformation and diversification of the energy sector. Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan possesses significant potential for the development of hydropower and renewable energy sources but faces investment-related constraints. The study concludes that there is a need to strengthen regional cooperation and establish sustainable financing mechanisms for green projects.
